• Meden Agan: a world premiere of a remarkable work by Jan Vriend (www.janvriend.co.uk) – his first piano work for twenty five years. In three parts (name Rhetorica, Poetica and Erotica), it follows in the line of such classics as Debussy`s Estampes or the books of Albeniz` Iberia. Meden Agan or `nothing in excess` is, perhaps an ironic title for such complex and generous music. Certainly, the Erotica movement is a tour-de-force of outrageous and constant agility, leading to a climax that owes something to Debussy`s L`isle joyeuse.

• `Cellist, Joy Lisney, currently at Clare College, Cambridge, is making her debut at the hall – the first of two appearances this season. She will return on June 15th with Dame Emma Kirkby to accompany songs of Amy Beach and to undertake another Vriend premiere: a work for `cello and piano called `JOY`. It was a performance of Chopin`s magnificent sonata that moved Vriend to compose for this young artist.

• The launch of Schubertreise** – named after the innovative concerts at London’s South Bank Centre (2001-2004), this is an extensive recording venture that will cover the complete Schubert piano sonatas, set within contrasted programmes of music drawn from a wide range of genre. Volume one features Schubert`s Sonata in E, D 157 along with both his variation sets, miscellaneous short pieces from his student years and the youthful sonata of Icelandic composer, Arni Bjornsson..
