Dame Emma Kirkby performs throughout the world, appearing with an ever-widening circle of orchestras and chamber ensembles, including the Academy of Ancient Music, London Baroque, the Age of Enlightenment, Freiburger Barock, Tafelmusik, and Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montreal. In addition to her solo work and her partnerships with Anthony Rooley, Jakob Lindberg and Lars Ulrik Mortensen, she is renowned for her role in the Consort of Musicke.
In recent years Emma has formed a partnership with James Lisney and together they have performed throughout Europe and America, with both modern and period pianos. They can be heard on a disc of the songs of Amy Beach (on Bis) and their programmes range from Haydn and Schubert to Debussy and Walton. The combination of lieder and solo piano music makes for a varied programme and is a valuable chance to hear Emma Kirkby in repertoire that stands outside the period for which she has become internationally renowned.
Her recorded output is prolific, numbering well over one hundred records. The incisive intelligence, as well as the uniquely beautiful voice and brilliant musicianship which she brings to her performances, makes hearing Emma Kirkby an experience not to be missed.
